H.E. Ambassador Abdi-Asis Mohamud Mohamed holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Madras, India (MCC), Computer Studies from South Bank University UK, and a Master in Diplomacy and International Relations from Kampala University, Uganda.
Ambassador Mohamed also completed training courses on Conflict Prevention & Peacemaking in Africa at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research, a Political Approach to Preventing and Responding to Electoral Violence course at UN System Staff College, a Specialisation Course on Election Observation and Assistance at Austrian Study Centre for Peace (ASPR), a Religion & Mediation Course hosted by Princeton University, USA, and a Ceasefire Mediation Course in Oslo, Norway.

Ambassador Mohamed is a peacebuilder and diplomat and worked with the United Nations political mission in Somalia for 12 years as a National Political Affairs Officer, fostering inclusive dialogue and reconciliation in support of UN peacebuilding and statebuilding mandates. He supported the end of the transition period in Somalia roadmap 2012 and the adoption of a new provisional constitution. He was one of the three members of the International Galkayo Ceasefire Team – Advisory Group that worked with the Somali Joint Committee of the two federal states of Puntland and Galmudug to advise on and support practical arrangements for implementing a ceasefire and building confidence conducive to a lasting peace and reconciliation process for the longstanding conflict in Galkayo and Mudug region.
Feb 2007-Sept 2008 H.E. Mohamed served as the Presidential Envoy of the Office of the President of the Transitional Federal Government of the Somali Republic.
Oct 2007-Dec 2008, he served as Somalia Representative chargé d’affaires to Sweden, accredited to Denmark, Finland, Iceland, and Norway. His roles were to improve close relationships with Nordic countries, communicate the policies of the government, and solicit humanitarian and development aid.
