November 2018 – July 2022 Assistant Undersecretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Khartoum Under Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the advent of the peaceful December 2018 Revolution in Sudan that led to the removal of the previous regime and paved the way to the Transitional Government;
2014-2018 Sudan’s Ambassador to the Republic of Bulgaria and non-resident Ambassador to Serbia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Albania;
2008-2011 Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway, concurrently accredited to Finland, Iceland and Denmark;
1998-2004 Assignment with Sudan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York;
1992-1995 Serving at Sudan’s embassy in Djibouti; Ambassador Ahmed was elected ‘Commissioner’ in the 18 Member Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC), of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in May 2011. She was re-elected on exceptional basis in 2013 in order to sustain continuity of the Commission. She served as Chairperson of the Commission in 2015.
Ambassador Ahmed joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sudan as third secretary since January 1988.
July 2018 Ambassador Ahmed was awarded the Madara Rider Decoration by H.E. Rumen Radev President of Bulgaria
