John Horgan was Premier of the Province of British Columbia from 2017 to 2022 and leader of the province's New Democratic Party from 2014 to 2022. He represented his constituency in British Columbia's parliament from 2005 to 2023.

Under his premiership, British Columbia became the first jurisdiction in Canada to pass legislation implementing the United Nations Declaration on Indigenous Peoples. In addition to advancing reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples and advocating for clean economic growth, John Horgan led his province through the COVID-19 pandemic and through a series of extreme crises, including floods and wildfires. His government developed North America's strongest and most ambitious climate action plan. John Horgan was also active in numerous energy projects, driving clean energy initiatives.

Prior to his election in 2005, John Horgan worked in the House of Commons in Ottawa and for the Government of British Columbia, for which he played a number of key roles including Associate Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Finance, and lead negotiator on the Columbia River Treaty, a water management agreement with the United States of America.
