Ambassador Larbi EL HADJ ALI is a career diplomat. He Joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Algeria, in September 1983. He had served as Ambassador to the Republic of Congo from 2022 to 2023 as well as to Canada from 2020 to 2022, where he was also Algeria’s representative to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Ambassador Larbi EL HADJ ALI had held several positions of responsibility at the level of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as Advisor to the Minister from 2013 to 2020; Deputy Director in charge of the United Nations Organization from 2009 to 2013 and Deputy Director in charge of the partnership with the European Union between 2002 and 2004. Abroad, he served as Minister Plenipotentiary at Algeria’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York from 2004 to 2009. In this capacity, he was, in particular, Algeria’s representative on the 1st Committee, in charge of Disarmament and international security issues; member of the Algerian delegation during Algeria’s term in the Security Council (2004-2005) and member of the United Nations Commissions and working groups on Disarmament issues. During the period 1996-2000, he was Counselor to the Algerian Embassy in Brussels and previously 1st Secretary at the Algerian Embassy in Prague (1988-1992). He has participated in numerous regional and international conferences within the United Nations, Non Aligned Movement, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, Africa and the Sahel region and Euro-Mediterranean Partnership. He participated to fifteen sessions of the UN General Assembly (2004-2018) as member of the Algerian delegation. He has also contributed to the training of young diplomats at the Diplomatic and International Relations Institute in Algiers. Ambassador of Algeria to Federal Republic of Germany since 16th May 2023.
