Business & Trends BER Runway

In recent years, the capital city's airport Berlin Brandenburg "Willy Brandt" (BER) has often produced headlines, mainly negative ones. So it's particularly pleasing to see that there are also things around BER that actually work smoothly. And they are also free of charge. Like the BER Runway. But - hardly anyone knows about it. With BER Runway, passengers receive priority access to the airport security checkpoint at BER together with their valid boarding pass - and can thus save themselves from standing in long queues.

Using the BER Runway reservation database, passengers can reserve a time slot for access to the security checkpoint from home or on the way. When booking this time slot, passengers are asked for their flight number and departure time. The passenger then receives a QR code and the number of the separate access point (currently Door 8) with the confirmation of the reservation, to the e-mail address provided. Due to the provision of the separate access points, the waiting time for the security check is about 5 to 10 minutes. The documents should be ready to hand for scanning. Then the security check takes place.

Access is reserved for the passenger 10 minutes before the booked slot and until 10 minutes after the booked time. If this time slot is not used, the reservation expires.

Reservations for the BER Runway can be made from 72 hours before departure. If the desired time is fully booked as a time slot, the general access to the security checkpoint can of course be used. Reservations can be made up to 1 hour before departure for Schengen flights or 1.5 hours for non- Schengen flights.
