Germany's Best Golf Course 2024
WINSTONgolf to the east of the state capital Schwerin has received the ‘Germany's Best Golf Course 2024’ award. This is the fourth time that the Scottish-style golf course has received this award, which was voted for by golf industry experts and golfers themselves. Inspired by classic Scottish and Irish links courses, the 18-hole course combines sporting challenges with impressive natural surroundings and has a handicap limit of 36. The term ‘links course’ is derived from the early days of golf, when it was played on land between fields and the coastal strip, known as linksland. Inspired by this, WINSTONgolf was integrated into the Mecklenburg environment. With Gut Vorbeck, Kaarz Castle and Basthorst Castle, attractive accommodation is available in the surrounding area. By being recognised as one of the top golf courses in Europe, WINSTONlinks has confirmed its very special position at an international level, said Rüdiger Born, President of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Golf Association. The proportion of foreign guests is also significantly higher than in other tourist areas.
