More perfect than a human?
Dear Readers,
he looks like a human being, behaves (almost) like a human being, but is a programmed, adaptive machine: The partner of the leading actress in Maria Schrader’s great film “Ich bin dein Mensch” (I'm Your Man) was developed tailor-made for her, she gets involved in the scientific experiment. A scene from this film is on the cover of this issue of our Diplomatic Magazine, which focuses on “Artificial Intelligence”. The humanoid robot – an anticipation of what awaits humans in the 21st century. Not yet in the next few decades, as experts agree, but quite conceivable for the last third of the century. The robots that are already being used today, for example as service staff in hotels, are not yet very well suited “for contextual work or for fluid motor processes such as playing football”, says British researcher Peter Dayan, who received Germany’s highest research award with an Alexander von Humboldt Professorship. But machine learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) can hardly be separated today. How widespread AI is, how it is already shaping Industry 4.0 today, but also what dimensions of abuse are possible with Artificial Intelligence, is what we report on in this issue.
I wish you an exciting read.
