National Day of Tajikistan

An investment-friendly climate, free economic zones, tax breaks, and duty-free trade have led to an enormous economic boom in Tajikistan since its independence 34 years ago, said Ambassador H.E. Dr Imomudin Sattorov in his speech on the occasion of Tajikistan's national holiday, which the embassy celebrated on September 10, 2025, at the Titanic Hotel on Berlin's Gendarmenmarkt.

Economic growth recently stood at 8%, and the forecasts for 2025 are equally optimistic, according to Ambassador Sattorov. “One of our most important achievements is that the Tajik people have revived their ancient culture, their national identity, their centuries-old rich heritage, their language, customs, and traditions.” Science, education, and healthcare in Tajikistan have also improved significantly. The number of universities and medical facilities has multiplied.

After the “difficult path of consolidation,” Tajikistan is now a country that contributes to solving global problems. It actively participates in the work of the UN as an initiator of global and regional environmental initiatives and the development of green energy. In 2018, Tajikistan launched the Dushanbe Process, a series of international conferences on combating terrorism and its financing through drug trafficking.

Sattorov described Germany as a “reliable partner” and called the development of bilateral relations a “focus of Tajik foreign policy toward Europe.” Bilateral cooperation covers many areas, including political and economic cooperation as well as cooperation between cultural and educational organizations, universities, and research institutions. Over the past 20 years, with Germany's support, “dozens of schools, hospitals, and medical centers have been built or renovated” in Tajikistan. There is a lively exchange on vocational education and training, and there is great interest in Germany's dual education system.

There is now also a lively cultural exchange. In May 2025, the National Museum in Tajikistan held an exhibition of works by German artist and sculptor Günther Ücker. His works pay homage to the great Persian poet Hafez.
