On 1 July, H.E. Vera Alexander, Ambassador of Canada, welcomed several hundred guests to a luncheon reception marking Canada Day at the Embassy of Canada on Leipziger Platz in Berlin.

Speaking in both English and French, Ambassador Alexander highlighted her country’s bilingualism - a source of national pride - as well as its Indigenous heritage. Marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between Canada and Germany, she paid tribute to the close partnership between the two countries, founded on shared values, mutual trust and close cooperation. At a time of global upheaval, Canada is committed to shaping the future together with its partners, with a focus on innovation, critical raw materials, artificial intelligence, energy, research and strong democratic institutions. She also reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to NATO, its support for Ukraine and the rules-based international order.
