Alpine charm in Berlin
Under a beautiful blue sky, many guests accepted the Ambassador’s invitation. As is customary, the event began with a relaxed conversation between the Ambassador, the Head of Government Brigitte Haas and Minister Daniel Oehry. Liechtenstein is one of the smallest states in the world and, with a population of around 40,000, is a very compact country where almost everyone knows everyone else. Despite its small size, the economy is based on a strong industrial sector in very solid fields, thereby generating one of the highest per capita incomes in the world. Furthermore, the small country is a popular financial centre, with more registered companies than residents. Liechtenstein is regarded as a remarkable example of how even a very small state can become one of the wealthiest countries in the world through political stability, industry, financial services and close cooperation with its neighbours.
